World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March 2023
We are always pleased to have opportunities to nurture a love of reading and for the children to share their enthusiasm for particular books and authors. This year, World Book Day falls on Thursday 2nd March and on this day the children are invited to come into school dressed as a character from a favourite book. They should bring their book with them as we will be pairing up in classes of different ages so that they can share their books with other children. For older children, this does not need to be a book that they have read recently. It may be a favourite from when they were younger.
There are two competitions this year:
- to ‘dress-up’ a plastic bottle as a well-known book character or transform it into a scene;
- to complete a reading bingo card
All the staff will have three votes per plastic bottle and the top 3 winners from each phase group will win a prize. There will also be prizes for the top bingo cards; we understand that children in different age groups will be able to complete varying sections of the bingo card, children should therefore just complete what they can. All entries need to be brought into school between Tuesday 28 February and Thursday 2 March so that judging can take place at the end of World Book Day; we have had some fabulous entries in previous years so we look forward to this years!
