World Book Day - Thursday 8th March

Robert Drake will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 8th March and all children have been invited to  come  into  school  dressed  as a character from a favourite book.  They should bring their book with them so that they can share it with another child.
The whole school, including staff, will be participating in ‘Drop and Read’ throughout the day. Each time the bell rings, everyone will stop what they are doing and read a book.

Unlike non-uniform days, there is no charge for coming in dressed in costume, nor is it compulsory (school uniform may be worn instead), though we do hope that everybody will want to join in an make it a fun occasion.  Children who choose not to dress up should still bring their favourite book in with them.  No face paints or dyed hair is permitted and children should wear school shoes.

Tokens will also be given out, which allow the children to either exchange the token for one of the specially produced World Book Day books or to put the token towards buying another book of their choice.

The competition this year is to ‘dress-up’ an old sock as a well-known book character.  All the staff will have 3 votes per sock and the top 3 winners will win a prize.  All socks need to be brought into school on either Wednesday 28th February or Thursday 1st  March so that judging can take place and the prizes be given out on Monday 5th March 2018.
