Risk Avert Programme

In 2013 Essex County Council commissioned the Risk-Avert programme to educate, inform and reduce risk-taking amongst young people

It has been designed for KS2 children and is focused on early intervention and prevention. It aims to provide our students with improved knowledge related to why people engage in risky behaviours, dispel myths using social norms and provide skills that can help children safely navigate risky or dangerous situations.

The programme will work with schoolchildren from Year 6 throughout the current academic year. All school children currently in Year 6 will be asked to complete a short anonymous survey. The survey will ask them about their experiences and knowledge on a range of issues that include internet safety, friendships and personal safety.

At this stage we are inviting parents to inform us if they are not happy for their children to take part in this survey and/or project by Friday 26 April.
